Brooklyn: Prospect Park - Leffert's Homestead.

LEFFERTS HOMESTEAD Prospect Park, Brooklyn. This late Dutch Colonial house was rebuilt in 1777 by Lieutenant Peter Lefferts after partial destruction by fire during the Battle of Long Island. Although the low gambrel roof of the building is typical of the style, the beautiful detail of the main entrance is unusual. In 1913 the house was presented to the city by descendants of the original owner. Bank of New York Calendar 1967-68
