Manhattan: 8th Avenue - 31st Street (West)

Eighth Ave. (white bridgelike structure in center) from West 31st (right of No. 2) to 33rd (left of No. 1) Streets, showing in the foreground the site where the general Post Office stands today (1938). Across the Avenue one sees the steel structural framework for the Pennsylvania Railroad Station. These two photos form a panoramic view eastward from a vantage point near Ninth Ave. and shows a different skyline from what one sees today.
