Manhattan: 35th Street (East) - 3rd Avenue
E. 35th Street, north side, east from Third Avenue. To the left are two modern apartment houses, No's 201 and 211 E. 35th Street. The latter appeared in the News during the John J. O'Connor and James Fay Congressional fight during the Fall of 1938. It appears that the then incumbent O'Connor maintained a questionable legal address here which the successful Fay challenged. To the right appears an open space east of the Second Avenue "El". This is St. Gabriel's Park. Towering over the latter, from the east side of First Avenue is the chimneyed New York Steam Co. Plant.
