Manhattan: Amsterdam Avenue - 93rd Street (West)

Amsterdam Avenue, southwest from West 93rd Street, showing buildings on the west side of same, as viewed across the cleared site of the former Methodist Episcopal Church Home. Erected in 1885, it was vacated in 1929, at which time the Home moved to Spuyten Duyvil Parkway and 244th Street. Two six story apartments are to be erected here after the failure of several other plans for this site. Details of this are to be found in Gustave Zismer's column in the New York Sun of January 23, 1940. Under construction at this date is the 8 story Joan of Arc Junior High, P. S. 118.
