Manhattan: 1st Ave. - 29th St. E.

First Avenue, north from E. 29th Street, showing mainly the easterly side of this thoroughfare above 30th Street (seen on the right). The smoke stacks seen in the distance are atop the N.Y. Steam Co. plant and the Consolidated Edison Company generating unit. Note the 34th Street "El" spur crossing the Avenue. Exclusive of the removal of the latter feature, this view in 1936 remains the same. No. 2 shows only a portion of the area seen in View No. 1 Note at the right the clearance (shown solely in View No. 3) where the present Psychopathic Hospital unit of the Bellevue stands.
