Manhattan: Broome Street - Crosby Street

430 Broome Street (right), at the N.E. corner of Crosby Street (left), showing a 5-story structure that was formerly a Masonic Temple; Continental Lodge No. 287, F. & A.M., New York City, meeting here from 1855 to 1857 or 1858. It was the center of Masonic activities and more Lodges met there between 1850 and 1858 than at another point. The Municipal Building Department states this to be the structure standing at that early date. The donor is Past Master and Historian of the aforementioned Lodge and is also the present (1938) Secretary of the Masonic Board of Relief of New York City. 1938. Gift of Francis J. Arkins.
