Manhattan: Riverside Drive - 86th Street
140 to 147 Riverside Drive, east side, north from W. 86th to 87th Streets, showing a block front of private residences (built in 1896 by Henry Cook, architect) that are about to be replaced by a modern 18 story apartment house at a cost of $2,500,000. An account to this effect is in the New York Times of August 7, 1938. Included in this plan are 4 additional dwellings, No. 351 W. 86th Street (right of No. 1) and No's. 348, 50 and 52 W. 87th Street (not seen). Dr. John A. Harriss, former department commissioner of police, occupied for years No. 140, the structure at the N.W. corner of W. 86th Street.
