Manhattan: 34th Street (West) - 8th Avenue

329-393 and 315 West 34th Street, north side, west of and towards Eighth Avenue. No. 315 is the Scottish Rite Cathedral, formerly the Manhattan Opera House, and originally built 1903 as the Drury Lane Theatre. The buildings between it and Eighth Avenue have been demolished for the site of the Hotel New Yorker. April 6, 1928. P. L. Sperr. The New York Times of February 25, 1938 reports the sale of No. 311-321 West 34th Street (the former Opera House) by the Consistory of New York City, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America to a corporation headed by Abraham Ellis. This confirms a similar report last November that was denied then.
