Manhattan: Broadway - 35th Street (West)
Broadway, west side, from West 35th to 36th Street's, showing prominently the Herald Square Theatre. This is at the N.W. corner of 35th Street. It was first opened in 1883 as the New Park. Later Harrigan took a lease and produced "Old Lavender" "Pete" and other successes. The name was changed to that shown in 1895. The following year Belasco's play "The Heart of Maryland" was produced here. Lew Fields was the final lessee. The house was torn down in 1912. At the left and right margins respectively appear Macys Department Store and the Hotel Marlborough. Slightly to the right of the former is the Arsenal tower at Seventh Ave. About 1910 H. N.
