Manhattan: Hudson Street - Bank Street

Hudson Street, west side, from Bank (left of No. 1), to W. 12th (right of No. 2) Streets, showing buildings thereupon as viewed across a clearance on the east side of Abingdon Square between Bank Street and Eighth Avenue. "The thoroughfare in the center separating these blocks is Bethune Street and thru which appears a glimpse of the Ninth Avenue "El" running on Greenwich Street. The G. E. Supply Corp. building occupies the Bank-Bethune Street frontage, while to the north are dwellings between Bethune and W. 12th Streets. Eighth Avenue begins at this point and runs at the right over the exposed sub-basement and to the front of the exposed building rears. The six story building with the white trim, located at the S. W. corner of Hudson and W. 12th Streets is the Laura Spellman Hall of the Young Women's Christian Association. The trees partially hiding same are in the triangular park named for the daughter of Sir Peter Warren. This separates Eighth Avenue from Hudson Street. Upon the foreground site formerly stood No's. 1, 3, 5, and 7-9 Abingdon Square (q.v.); the last being the Abingdon Hotel. These were demolished in May 1931.
