Queens: 52nd Street - 39th Avenue

(1) 52nd Street (foreground, formerly Dickinson Street, also Woodside Ave.), adjoining the S.W. corner of 39th Ave. (front of this house; formerly Middleburg Ave. and also Dutch Kills Road), showing a rear view of the John Morrell house, which was destroyed by fire in November 1925. It was erected in the middle of the 18th Century by John Morrell who erected a house and a smithy (forge), on the estate of his father-in-law, John Alburtus. Other owners were John Morrell 1779, John W. Morrell 1852-1860, William Morrell, and Wm. Morgenthaler of New York in 1903. 1922. Eugene L. Ambruster Collection.
