Exterior Street, south from East 157th Street, showing on the east side of the street, the Bronx Municipal Terminal Market. It is the largest wholesale municipal market in the world. It was opened in September, 1929. The terminal has tracks of the New York Central and the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroads running into the building, discharging merchandise on platforms, especially constructed for that purpose. In the background is visible the 12-story warehouse of the Lehigh Valley Railroad, at East 144th Street.
