Manhattan: 54th Street (East) - Madison Avenue

E. 54th Street, north side, east from Madison to Park Avenues, and showing a row of brownstones (No's 55 to 61 inclusive), a new apartment house (No 63-65), and a 12 story apartment hotel. The latter is No. 400 Park Avenue and is at the N.W. corner of E. 54th Street. Note the canopy extending from No. 61 and identifying same as "Bill's Gay Nineties". To the left margin is a new 2 story commercial structure that adjoins the building at the N.E. corner of Madison Avenue and which replaced two, additional brownstones. July 16, 1938. P.L. Sperr
