Manhattan: 54th Street (West) - 5th Avenue

West 54th Street, south side, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, showing a clearance to the west of the Rockefeller homes. This extends thru to 53rd Street and includes the building that formerly housed the Museum of Modern Art. Upon this site a new structure and garden for this institution will rise. Several newspaper accounts refer to this demolition, one of which appeared in the New York Times of May 16, 1938. In the background are units of Rockefeller Center, same being the 45 story International Bldg. and the 70 story R.C.A. Bldg.
