Manhattan: Broadway - 38th Street (West)

Broadway, east side, at W. 38th Street, as viewed south- eastward from the 21 storied Times Square Trust Company Build- ing at the N.E. corner of Seventh Avenue and 40th Street. Shown is the excavation for the 35 storied Knickerbocker- Casino Building at the N.E. corner. Across same appears the towered 26 story structure (No. 1384-8 Broadway) on the former site of the Hotel Normandie. To the extreme left is the 33 story Bricken-Casino Building at the S.E. corner of 39th Street. The low roof tops seen in the center foreground are atop the Metropolitan Opera House. Note in the background the indistinct outline of the New York Life Insurance Company Building. May 10, 1930. P.L.
