51st Avenue, north side, (foreground) between 11th and 21st Streets, looking northeastward across the area which marks the direct path of the highway leading from the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, later built here. The row of tenements--the rears of which are seen--fronting on the south side of 50th Avenue were later demolished.
