Manhattan: 37th Street (East) - 1st Avenue
300 to 310 E. 37th Street, at, adjoining and east of the S. E. corner of Second Avenue (right), as viewed south westward from a point midway between First and Second Avenues. Prominently shown is St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church established here August 15, 1859 by the Rev. William H. Clowry. The late Cardinal Farley, then a Monsignor, was pastor from 1884 to 1902. His assistant during part of that time was the subsequent Cardinal, Patrick J. Hayes. For an account of the last Mass held here, see the New York Times of January 16, 1939.
