Manhattan: West Street - King Street

(1) West Street, east side, from opposite Pier 36, North River, to opposite Pier 38 (King Street), showing freight trains in the eastern half of the street. For years the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad freight trains have come down West Street and east, via Canal Street, to the old St. John's Park Freight Station (see Varick Street). This is shortly to be changed. March 6, 1929. P. L. Sperr. (2) The same scene four years later, after the buildings between West and Washington Streets have been cleared away, and work has begun on the new St. John's Park Freight Terminal, which will occupy the east side of West street from Charlton (Pier 37) to Clarkson (Pier 40) Streets.
