Manhattan: Madison Avenue - 58th Street

Madison Avenue at N.W. corner of 58th Street, showing The Madison, a new residence hotel. In the right foreground there is a glimpse of the old buildings on the N.E. corner, which will be demolished in 1928. The view of this corner taken about 1922, with which this should be compared, shows the old Sydenham Building which this replaced, and the old Riding Club adjoining it on 58th Street, which in this picture has just been replaced by the structure shown between The Madison and the 58th Street wing of the old Hotel Savoy. The latter, together with the Savoy Apartments shown on the N.E. corner of Fifth Avenue and 58th Street, is about to make way for the new 33-story Savoy-Plaza. Late 1925.
