Brooklyn: Crown Street - Nostrand Avenue

Crown Street, north side, from Nostrand Ave., on the east, to Rogers Ave., on the west, and President Street on the north. This was the Kings County Penitentiary. This site was purchased in 1846. On March 23, 1843 the Penitentiary and workhouse were completed. The hospital was completed in 1849. It was demolished in 1907. 1905. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection.
