Rockefeller Center, New York February 12, 1975 For more than four decades, the elegant Rainbow Room and Rainbow Grill located 65 floors above midtown. Manhattan in Rockefeller Center have been New York City's most talked about restaurant and nighclub [sic] with outstanding entertainment and top cuisine plus an unexcelled view of the Manhattan skyline. Opened to the public as a formal skyscraper supper club in 1934, the Rainbow Room, above two stories in height, occupies the entire eastern end of the RCA Building's 65th floor. Its 24 floor-to-ceiling windows line the north and south sides of the spacious dining room permitting breathtaking views of Manhattan island and surrounding areas for 50 miles. Panels between the windows are covered with plum colored silk tafetta, complimented by gold draperies and emerald green carpeting. The tables are set on three levels beneath a magnificent crystal chandelier of classic design. Cocktails and dining ar [sic] offered nightly, seven days a week.
