Manhattan: Broadway - 58th and 59th Streets

Broadway, south from Columbus Circle, showing at the left the 2-story taxpayer that is to be removed. This occupies the easterly frontage from Central Park South (59th Street) to W. 58th Street. The Herald-Tribune of January 21, 1940 carried a full account of the proposed apartment buildings that are to be erected here. Towering above same is the 20-story U. S. Rubber Co. Building, No. 1784 Broadway. To the right are the Arcade and Fisk Buildings. Separating these towering structures is W. 57th Street.
