Queens: 19th Road - 19th Avenue

19th Road (Old Bowery Bay Road) north side, between Nineteenth Avenue and 77th Street, showing four views of the Riker-Lent families cemetery. In the background of these views is the Isaac Rapelye farmhouse. History has it that Harck Sieboutsen settled at Poor Bowery about 1658. In 1727 his son Jacobus Krauk (beyd) willed the farm to his nephew Abraham Lent, the youngest son of Ryck the eldest son of Abraham Rycken. Daniel Lent, was the last of the family who resided here. In 1800 Isaac Rapelye purchased the house. Abraham Rycker, son of the first settler died in 1746 in his 91st year. This inscription was on his tombstone, which was standing in 1881. Some members of the family inhumed here are Dr. John Berrien Riker, a personal friend of Geo. Washington and a member of his staff. He was a surgeon during the War of the Revolution; Captain Abraham Riker who died at Valley Forge; Captain Andrew Riker, prominent in the War of 1812; M. McKisson, a member of the family of Gov. Geo. Clinton during the Revolution and a friend of his wife, Louise de Vallimont, a refugee of the French Revolution; Dr. Wm. James McNevin Irish patriot chemist and scholar, his wife, and children; and John Campbell Irish patriot and philanthropist. March 1923 View 2: May 1923 View 3: June 1925 View 4: May 1929 Eugene L.
