Manhattan: Park Avenue - 46th Street
Park Avenue, north from and including 46th Street. Silver Jubilee Exposition of 1923, the 25th Anniversary of Greater New York. The band is in the middle of 46th Street. To the right is No. 247 Park Avenue, about two years old. The 47th to 48th Street lot is still vacant; on the east side, in the next block north, the Park - Lane is under construction. Then comes the Railroad Y.M.C.A, hiding all but a small glimpse of St. Bartholomew's and the Hotel Ambassador, between 51st and 52nd Streets. On the west side of the Avenue the first building is the Hotel Marguery, (about 1918) between 47th and 48th Streets. Compare this with the photographs made from the same spot in 1913 and with the Grand Central railroad yards in 1903, also with the same scene a year and a half later in January 1925.
