Queens: 38th Avenue - Union Street

38th Ave. (Lincoln St., also Ailanthus Place), south side, east of Union St., showing in the right foreground No. 197 38th Ave., owned by Chris Louvere in 1873; next is the First Congregational Church; and beyond it, at the S. E. corner of Bowne St. and 38th Ave., is the M. B. Parsons Estate. View No. two is the same showing partially the N. W. corner of 38th Ave and Bowne St.; No three shows the west side of Bowne St. viewed northward. The congregation of the church seen in this view was formed in 1851 and the edifice erected in 1856 at a cost of 14,000 dollars on a site donated by the Parsons family. The first church of this congregation was dedicated on January 29, 1852 and stood on the east side of Union St, south of 38th Ave. When the present building was erected, the old one was moved to the rear of it and used as a Sunday School.
