Queens: 30th Road - Vernon Boulevard

30th Road, south side, between Vernon Boulevard and 12th Street, showing the General Ebenezer Stevens mansion, also known as the Albert Gallatin House. The two houses shown, formerly comprised one mansion which was cut in two parts and moved apart. The house was built in 1800 and when General Stevens took up his residenoe here he named the place "Mount Napoleon.' The General was a member of the Boston Tea Party and served throughout the Revolutionary War. He died in 1823. His son, Kerby Stevens, married a daughter of Albert Gallatin, United States Secretary of the Treasury under Thomas Jefferson. Gallatin died in this house in 1849, aged 88. Eugene L.
