Manhattan: Convent Avenue - 141st Street

(1) Hamilton Grange, the residence of Alexander Hamilton from 1802 to 1804, 287 Convent Avenue, adjoining St. Luke's (Protestant Episcopal) Church on the N.E. corner of 141st Street. The original site of the house was on the west side of Convent Avenue between 142nd and 143rd Streets. It was chosen by Hamilton in order to be near Morrisiana, the home of Gouverneur Morris, and was about eight miles from town. 1913. (2) A close-up of Hamilton Grange. 1913.
