Manhattan: Broadway - 225th Street (West)

Broadway, east side, at W. 225th Street and northward showing a panoramic view photographed from the elevated station. Broadway is on the left and W. 225th Street on the right. Apartment buildings in the background are in the Bronx and are on the ridge that formerly was the far bank of the old Spuyten Duyvil Creek. This stream was diverted into the Harlem River and the bed filled in, making the Bronx contiguous with Marble Hill. The gas station see in the foreground is at the N. E. corner of Broadway and W. 225th Street. The tin garages adjoining are on the latter thoroughfare. July 15, 1939. P. L. Sperr
