Manhattan: Bleecker Street - 7th Avenue South

Bleecker Street, northeast side, north from Seventh Avenue South. The aged buildings appearing in the foreground are No's. 305-7 (a double house) and 309. The latter is the Thomas Paine home of 1808-9. At that date this thoroughfare was known as Herring Street and had just been opened. View No. 2 is slightly earlier and shows the tin garage (No. 303) used as a tea room. No. 3 is still earlier and is in the opposite direction being photographed from a point above Grove Street.
