9217 Schenck Avenue, north side, between East 92nd and East 93rd Streets, viewing toward the latter and showing Bill's Old Homestead Beer Garden. Here Billy Ray for more than thirty years operated a bar known as the "madhouse," because of electrical gadgets that shocked customers when they picked up their change or sat on certain chairs. The house, which was formerly three stories high, was practically razed by fire in 1933. It was later demolished to make way for the construction of the Belt Parkway.
