Queens: Jamaica Avenue - Kew Garden Road

Jamaica Ave. (formerly Fulton Street, originally the Brooklyn and Jamaica Plank Road), east from Kew Gardens Road (left; formerly known as Newtown Road and also New Haven Ave.). The Williamsburg and Jamaica Turnpike junctioned with Newtown Road at the Jamaica Plank Road. At the right foreground was Distler's Park. Note, in 1931, the toll-house, if standing would be in the middle of Jamaica Ave., between 137th and 138th Streets. Distler's Park was on the east side of Van Wyck Boulevard, south from Jamaica Ave. to Eighty-ninth Ave. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection. About 1889.
