Manhattan: Varick Street - Laight Street
Varick Street, east side, south of Laight to Beach Streets (right), showing mainly the distinctive St. John's P. E. Chapel, built by Trinity Church in 1803-7. The front presents a high Corinthian porch, supported by four massive columns of sandstone. The quaint hewn-oak spire, with a clock tower, rises 214 feet above the surrounding depreciated locale.
