Manhattan: West Street - Canal Street

(1) West Street, east side, at Canal Street (opposite Piers 32-34, North River), showing the new Holland Tunnel Ventilator building, on the west side of Washington Street from Canal to Spring Streets. At this point Canal Street is forked. The south fork, at the right, is parallel to Watts Street, and used to be called Hoboken Street. Between it and Canal Street proper was a little triangular park, where the two-story shack, in the foreground of this picture, now stands. September 27, 1927. P. L. Sperr. (2) The same, nearly seven years later, and including the filling station at the right, at the S.E. corner of the south fork (formerly Hoboken Street) of Canal Street.
