Celebrations, Parades and Municipal Events: The funeral procession of General U. S. Grant moving westward on 14th Street to turn north at 5th Avenue. The photographer is viewing northeastward from a point slightly west of the S. W. corner. The line of march (led by General Hancock) was up Broadway from City Hall, to 14th Street, through to 5th Avenue, up same to 57th Street, thence to the Boulevard to 72nd Street, to Riverside Drive.
