Manhattan: 6th Avenue - 40th Street (West)
Sixth Avenue, at W. 40th Street showing one of the last stages of the Sixth Avenue "El" demolition. Simultaneous with this civic project is the subway construction underground. The latter is evidenced by the temporary wood planking. The photographer is viewing northeastward and towards Bryant Park, the New York Public Library and W. 42nd Street Buildings.
