Sixth Avenue, north from its convergence with Church Street at White Street, showing this new extension and its subway under construction. The photographer is viewing towards Canal Street. The "El" line shown is on West Broadway. To the right is the towering New York Telephone Company building. This will be included in a new structure that will occupy the entire irregular block between Walker and Lispenard Streets. To the left is the 11-story American Thread Company building. This is on Beach Street, extending from West Broadway to St. Johns Lane. The latter is a small alley way lying between West Broadway and Varick Street.
