Manhattan: Lexington Avenue - 34th Street

The Protestant Episcopal Church of the Epiphany will occupy a new church (to be erected) on York Avenue, at the N.W. corner of East 74th Street, after nearly a century at the N.E. corner of Lexington Avenue and East 35th Street. Since the sale of this property (May 1936) to Dr. Charles V. Paterno, a real estate specialist, the congregation has been using the St. Thomas Chapel on East 60th Street as a temporary place of worship. The Reverend Dr. John Wallace Suter Jr. has been the rector since the retirement of the Reverend William T. Crocker in 1933, who had held the position for 30 years. This data was reported in THE NEW YORK SUN of SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 1937. Dr. Paterno traded this cleared site in 1939 for an apartment building on Central Park South.
