Manhattan: Houston Street (East) - Mulberry Street

39 East Houston Street, south side, west from Mulberry (left), to Lafayette (right) Streets, showing the Puck Building, erected sometime between the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the 19th Century. This structure occupies the block bounded by East Houston to Jersey Streets, and Mulberry to Lafayette Streets. It is an edifice in the Italian Renaissance style and is occupied by the J. Ottman Lithographing Co., foremost establishment of its kind on the American continent and the publishers of the magazine "Puck," a periodical, satirizing political and social groups. The clearance, shown in the foreground was caused by demolitions on the north side of East Houston Street, during the construction of the Eighth Ave. Subway.
