Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 37th Street

Fifth Ave., at the N.W. corner of West 37th Street, showing in a set of 3 views, different aspects of the Brick Presbyterian Church erected at this location in 1858 and about to be demolished. This structure surplanted the original edifice on the corner of Beekman and Nassau Streets; the latter being erected in 1767. Both of these structures were identical, though the one here shown is on a much larger scale. A new place of worship is now under construction at the S.W. corner of Park Ave. and East 91st Street. No. 1 of this set shows the Avenue frontage, No. 2 the 37th Street side and No. 3 the door at the rear. October 1937. R.W. Hill.
