(1) 85 Bushwick Ave., east side, between Powers and Grand Streets, showing the home of Martin Kalbfleisch, who was born on February 8, 1804 at Flushing, Holland. He entered the United States in 1826 and built this house in 1864. It was sold in 1916 by the Fleet family to the St. Catherine's R.C. Hospital, and used as a nurse's home. Martin Kelbfleisch was Mayor of Brooklyn from 1861-1863 and 1868-1871. The house was demolished in September 1930. 1922. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection (2) The same, another view. March 1929.
