Queens: Corona Avenue - 102nd Street

Corona Avenue, north side, between 102nd and 104th Streets, showing the Geo. W. Burroughs' house erected by John Burroughs who died in 1750. His sons John and Joseph inherited the farm. Josephs son Thomas was the next owner. He married Sarah, daughter of George Wyckoff. His son was Geo. Wyckoff Burroughs and his daughter married Isaac Moe who was the owner in 1923. The house was gone by June 1930. Near this house was once the Commons of Newtown. This place was once General Moore's headquarters. It is questionably stated that the house was erected about 1700 on the site of the former Wm. Stevenson house that was acquired, in 1742, by Richard Betts.
