Manhattan: Central Park West - 88th Street (West)

Central Park West, west side, from West 88th (left of No. 1) to 91st Streets. The large ornate apartment house is the St. Urban. To the south is the Walden School. Occupying the 89th - 90th Street frontage are various older structures. From left to right these are, the Melbourne, the C. P. W. Hospital, the New Windsor and the Cayuga. The last two are to be removed (N. Y. Sun, July 22, 1940) to provide a site for a modern 18-story apartment dwelling: At the right of View 2 appears a portion of the twin towered El Dorado. This structure occupies the 90th-91st Street frontage. The photographers vantage point is in Central Park and from which he is viewing westward. View 1: February 2, 1929 View 2: March 30, 1931 P. L.
