Queens: Hobart Street - 30th Street

Hobart Street (dirt road), east side, north from 55th Street to Thirtieth Avenue, showing in a set of 4 views an old Rapelje house later known as the Cornelius Purdy farmhouse. The history of ownership is that Cornelia Wyckoff married Captain Cornelius Rapelje who in 1758 purchased this farm from his father-in-law. Mary Rapelje, daughter of Captain Cornelius, married David Purdy after whom the house, which was erected in 1770, was named. Other owners of this house and farmland were heirs of Cornelius Purdy 1852, and the Banta family from 1860-1891. April 1923 Views 1, 2, and 3 View 4: May 1925. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection
