(1) Independence Ave., west side (foreground, vantage point), between West 254th and 256th Streets, showing the driveway and private residence of Dr. William Sargent Ladd, known as, "Hillside" (Bromley's map of 1924 as revised to September 1932). The Bromley and Robinson maps from 1879 to 1913 show it to be on the estate of S.D. Babcock. The view is northwestward.
