University Ave., west side, between West 175th and West 176 Streets, showing the grove of ancient American Elms at the entrance to the R.W. Montgomery estate. The Montgomery mansion was located on what is now the West side of Montgomery Ave., between the aforementioned streets. Two 6-story apartment houses now (1938) occupy the location shown in the view.
