(1) 84th Street, north side, east of Sixteenth Ave., showing J. Lott Nostrand house, built about 1670. During the Revolution it became the William Barrie Tavern, at which George Washington is said to have stopped in 1790. Judge John Lott Nostrand was born here in 1856 and lived here until 1902. It was demolished in 1914, to make way for the widening of 84th Street. About 1900. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection. (2) The same, showing the N.E. corner after the demolition of the house. 1922.
