E. 38th Street, south side, west from (No. 316 left) a point between First and Second Avenue and to the latter. Note the political signs at the left indicating the Congressional 1938 struggle between incumbent John J. O'Connor and the successful candidate James H. Fay. This contest had national attention because of Administration interest. The name of Israel Amter indicates the Communist party's candidate for Governor of the State of New York.
