678-684 Lexington Avenue, at and adjoining the N.W. corner of 56th Street. Notice how two-story shops have been built onto the fronts of the old houses. This has been done since 1920; it was quite a common practice in this part of town and south to 23rd Street. It is more often seen in side-streets. March 28, 1928. P. L. Sperr.
