Sixth Avenue (across the center, from left to right margin and with Elevated Line thereon), from West 48th to 51st Streets, as viewed northwestward from a point at W.48th Street near Fifth Avenue. Shown is the Rockefeller (Radio) Center excavation extending between the aforementioned thoroughfares. At the far corner is the R.K.O. Bldg, under construction. The 70 storied R.C.A. Bldg. will rise in the westerly portion of the center clearance between the two corner tenements. To the south of the latter will be built the Center Theatre. The dwellings in the left foreground were subsequently demolished leaving a vacant space which until 1933 was used as a Parking lot. In October of that year plans were filed for the Netherland Bldg. Across the skyline appears structures forming the Times Square-Broadway-Central Park -Columbus Circle area and composed mainly of hotels; prominent of which are the: Bristol, Maryland, Plymouth, Taft, Park-Central and Essex House. These extend across the view, from left to right and are easily identified, having signs bearing their names. Wurts Bros. December 16, 1931.
