College of the City of New York: Shown is the Lewisohn Stadium as seen from Convent Avenue, near West 136th Street, during repair operations conducted by the Works Progress Administration. In the right background across the amphitheatre is Townsend Harris Hall, and on the left is the tower of the Hebrew Orphan Asylum on the west side of Amsterdam Avenue. View 2 is at the north end of the Stadium showing the ramp built by the W.P.A. Across same, on the north side of West 138th Street, is the Hygiene Building.
